Summary of recommendations: All travelers should visit either their personal physician or a travel health clinic 4-8 weeks before departure.
Malaria:Â Prophylaxis with chloroquine, Lariam (mefloquine), Malarone (atovaquone/proguanil), doxycyline, or primaquine is recommended for the rural lowlands near Kura and Arax rivers in the provinces of Agcabadi, Barda, Beylaqan, Bilasuvar, Calilabad, Fuzuli, Imisli, Kurdamir, Nakhichivan, Sabirabad, Saatli and Zardab, typically between July and October.
Vaccinations:Tetanus-diphtheria | For all travelers who have not received a tetanus-diphtheria immunization within the last 10 years. | Hepatitis A | Recommended for all travelers | Typhoid | For travelers who may eat or drink outside major restaurants and hotels | Hepatitis B | Recommended for all travelers | Rabies | For travelers spending a lot of time outdoors, or at high risk for animal bites, or involved in any activities that might bring them into direct contact with bats | Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) | Two doses recommended for all travelers born after 1956, if not previously given |
